Roleplay rules
- You must adhere to existing lore. Powergaming or breaking existing lore is not allowed.
- All in-character communication must take place in-game, do not metagame.
- Sending IC announcements, private letters, etc. over Discord or any other third party medium is not allowed, with the exception of places designated by staff for such communication.
- Do not rally people on third-party mediums like Discord for an active roleplay scenario, for example: when your town is under attack. All major towns have an alarm bell, ring the bell to alert the townsfolk in case of emergency.
- Characters may not be duplicated/copied.
- When taking over a character from someone else, do not make a duplicate of the original character so you can play it. Ask the current owner of the character to transfer it to you.
- Characters you own cannot interact with each other, including indirectly.
- This includes characters that are dead.
- Your Minecraft inventory represents what you have with you in-character, you cannot roleplay items that you do not currently possess in your inventory.
- Your Minecraft skin must be an appropriate visualisation of your character.
- Only gamemasters can give characters contagious diseases.
- You are not allowed to do parkour using a horse.
- You may not hold a character captive for longer than 3 OOC days straight.
- A captive character must be provided with at least one OOC hour or roleplay every OOC day of captivity.
- Fast travel may not be used for conflict purposes. For example: raids or thievery.
IC vs OOC in the game world
- Everything that happens in the game world is IC.
- You are always IC while playing a character, no matter what you are doing.
- Everything you have and do is IC, all Minecraft items you have or do not have with you are IC.
- If you have an item in your inventory, you have it with you IC.
- If you do not have an item in your inventory, you do not have it with you IC.
- With very few exceptions, if you cannot do something in-game, you cannot do it IC. Similarly, if you can do something in-game, you can do it IC.
- Example: the character creation plugin physically does not allow you to enter a date of birth that would make you younger than 8 years old. Obviously, this means your character simply cannot be younger than 8 years old.
Character death
- Death is permanent by default, and all death is IC.
- Do not kill other characters unreasonably.
- In case of doubt what is acceptable and what is not: ask a member of the server Direction.
- To further prevent murderhoboing and excessive character sniping, under exceptional circumstances a death may be appealed after the fact by opening a moderation ticket. The moderators will then judge your case.
- Deaths from minecraft-pvp are never permanent, but they are IC.
- Deaths from regular Minecraft mechanics, e.g. accidental fall damage, are normally not permanent, but they are IC.
- This does of course not apply to situations like being pushed off a cliff intentionally.
- When you die a non-permanent death, you actually die in-character. Your soul will travel to the Mysticum, where a disappointed Seer will judge you and send you back to finish the job. You will respawn at spawn and be allowed to continue living, albeit with a few restrictions at first.
- You may not return to your location of death for one IC day.
- You may not interact with any ongoing roleplay scenario related to your death.
- Your memory surrounding your death is foggy, you remember the events leading up to your death, but do not remember exactly how you died nor what happened after.
- You do not remember the people involved with your death.
Maiming
- Do not maim other characters unreasonably.
- In case of doubt what is acceptable and what is not: ask a member of the server Direction.
- It is not possible/allowed to maim a character in such a way that they are unable to speak or hear any longer.
- To further prevent murderhoboing and excessive character sniping, under exceptional circumstances a maim may be appealed after the fact by opening a moderation ticket. The moderators will then judge your case.
Building rules
- Builds must make sense with the lore and meet the server’s beauty standard.
- Do not make or use underground farms of any kind.
- Do not utilise mechanics like the lock system in an unrealistic manner to gain an advantage over your opponent. For example, don’t place doors in a series just to have a large amount of locks to break through.
- Do not grief other players’ builds.
- Destroying the landscape is not allowed, this is often referred to as ‘world scarring’.
- Buried containers must be marked by a block above it on the surface that makes it stand out slightly from the rest of the environment. For example, a coarse dirt block in a grass field. Ask a gamemaster if you need any assistance with this.
- All spaces within builds that are used for any purpose, must be accessible through an entrance like a door, trapdoor, etc. Do not block off any used spaces with blocks to prevent access. This also applies to storage containers, except for those buried according to the container burying rules.
- Death traps are forbidden.
Faction rules
- Discord servers of officially recognised factions must be owned by the server and have an official moderation presence. When applying for a faction to be approved, you will be required to hand over all faction discords to the server in case they exist already.
- Factions must not modify, assign nor restrict the access of, the roles “Ironveil Moderator”, “Moderator” and “Direction”.
- In order to maintain aesthetic consistency, faction icons must be made using Armoria or must adhere to the same artistic style.
- Faction heraldry may not display items that do not exist in the world of Narrantis, e.g. firearms.
- Because faction icons are replicated in many places, like the dynmap, factions may only change their icon through cooperation with the Direction. Please do not touch the faction discord icons without discussing first.
- The shield of type “Heater” must be used.
- No gradient effect must be used.
- A faction cannot consist of multiple settlements. Each settlement becomes its own OOC faction. In roleplay, a faction may of course have vassals etc., but it does not have any OOC power over other settlements.
