Orcs

Native of: The Barbaricum

Among the first mortal beings to walk on Narrantis, these greenskins are muscular and imposing humanoids with an unbridled passion for freedom.

Description

Just like their progenitors the Primal deities, the orcs are beings made for struggle, challenge and for the affirmation of their personal freedom. Most orcs love wide open spaces and adventure.

Their skin is mostly green, sometimes reddish, their imposing stature and pronounced tusks intimidate all other races on the continent. Orcs are about 2.1-2.2 m tall.

Although native to Barbaricum, bands of orcs populate the entire continent, but they rarely give up the customs and fashions of their region of origin, to which they feel an ancestral attachment.

History

Origins

It is said that the Primal deities were largely pleased when they saw the first orcs emerge from the Maze at the beginning of the Age of Myth, so much so that they complimented the Seers and their art as they preferred them to the dwarves: the only other race in existence .

Orcs have always demonstrated a passion for combat, so much so that the first orcs are said to have competed as gladiators in a monumental Great Arena designed by the Seer for the entertainment of the gods themselves.

For the first orcs, fighting was part of life, as was death: a simple passing that occurred amidst the applause of the deities.

Even after the arrival of the other races, the orcs continued on their path, strangers to the struggle between light and darkness.

However, the Iron Veil marked the end of the Great Arena, as the gods could no longer enter Narrantis.

At this point the orcs of the continent retreated to the Barbaricum, as the first men called the desert lands that emerged with the fall of the Abyssal Empire.

In the Barbaricum they founded their own kingdoms, including the Great Khanate: the first regional Empire on Narrantis after the Ironveil. Orcs also became interested in religions and offered their arms to the service of warlords across the continent.

Orcs today

To this day the Orcs dedicate themselves to adventure and mercenary activity. They are renowned throughout Narrantis as powerful warriors, sometimes hired as mercenaries, sometimes paid as mediating forces for their traditional neutrality.

The orcish factions of the barbaricum are, however, more feared by other races due to legends and prejudices, rather than for their real aggression.
