Native of: The Waters of Oceathis
The Merfolk, or Thallasi are the inhabitants of the depths of the abyss, undisputed lords of Oceathis, whose mysterious origin can be traced back to the very powerful and fickle abyssal deities.
These humanoid beings have the lower half of their bodies covered in fish scales of any color. The webbed feet are not large and unsuitable for land but are perfect for darting through the water at great speed.
Their upper half appears that of a normal human being, with a dark or light complexion depending on whether one is more accustomed to living on the surface or underwater.
Some Merfolk were subjected to the influence of the abyssal deities over the years, it is even said that some had “children” from these, giving rise to unique characteristics, making them more similar to fish or other sea creatures.

All races begin puberty around the age of 12 and are considered adults from 18 years of age. Merfolk live up to around 80 years.
Emerging from the Maze after the advent of the abyssal deities on Narrantis, the Merfolk gradually claimed the waters of this Realm under their dominion, which corresponded in the Age of Myth to the Abyssal Empire.
This former Empire had Oceathis among one of its major cities. The power of the Merfolk in the Age of Myth was such that a big part of Narrantis was submerged and their authority undisputed.
The Abyssal monsters lived in the depths of the shadowy waters above which dragons and leviathans flew, riding violent storms.
However, with the arrival of the Empyreans, Asaernes and men soon entered into war with the abyssal peoples, moved by the indignation of their celestial deities.
Lightning and sunlight bolts penetrated the depths, killing the leviathans and driving the abyssal deities back into the sea. This conflict ended in the Great Night, in which the dragons became extinct.
The ancient Kingdom of Oceathis was the ruling kingdom of the Abyssal Empire, led by the ancient god Hydrann. It was a feared empire, ruled with an iron fist, its god Hydrann was worshiped and feared across the continent.
Hydrann was in possession of the “Second Moon”, an artifact built for him by the ten Lunar Seers who decided to follow him, capable of flooding the Barbaricum and part of the Arkaia.
The Abyssal Emperor, who sat on the throne of Oceathis, acted on behalf of the god on a shining golden throne, distrusting enemies and allies.
The Merfolk of Oceathis were industrious and highly creative people.
Although attentive to writing and art, the famous artists and philosophers of the seas were often persecuted as hostile dissidents, isolated or sent into exile by imperial decree.
The Empire was first deprived of the two defeated Tiefling kingdoms and was overthrown in a conspiracy a few years after the construction of the Iron Veil, putting an end to the world conflict called “The Great Night”.
Much like the Tiefling, the Merfolk’s traditional weapon is the trident.
After the Great Night, the Merfolk retreated to their ocean depths, where the Empire dissolved into the salty waters of the oceans, calmed by the Iron Veil.
From the waters of Oceathis, the Merfolk have traded with the peoples of the mainland for centuries, with whom they generally maintain friendly relations, when they are not welcoming pirates and privateers or attacking coastal cities.
